FAQ

  • The Board of Directors of the Faith C. Ai Scholarship has decided to require hard copy applications because it is acutely aware of the potential for identity theft when information is transmitted online, even though our application does not ask for sensitive personal identification, such as date of birth or social security number. Therefore, in the interest of protecting both the applicants and the Board from invasions of privacy or identity theft, hard copies are required. Your application and supporting documents will be handled with care and in a confidential manner. We recommend that you retain a copy of everything you submit. In the event that you want copies of your letters of recommendation, you should contact the individuals who are writing them on your behalf.

  • In memory of Faith C. Ai, the Board of Directors of the Faith C. Ai Scholarship annually awards scholarships of up to $5,000 each. The number and amount of the scholarships awarded vary from year-to-year.

The in-person interview is a critical and substantial component of your overall score because it gives the Selection Committee an opportunity to assess how well you "think on your feet". It is also a chance to observe how well you articulate your academic and personal goals, as well as to evaluate your commitment to teaching. The in-person interview is so valuable to the Selection Committee that without it, your final evaluation will be incomplete.

  • In most cases, the scholarship award will be sent directly to the college or university you are attending, to be used toward your tuition. In other cases, the award may be used for other education-related expenses, subject to prior authorization by the Board of Directors of the Faith C. Ai Scholarship.

  • If you are invited to have an in-person interview with the Selection Committee during the first two weeks of March 2024, you are a finalist. All decision letters will be mailed no later than May 1, 2024. Should you have any change in your contact information during that time, please inform us.
